Cutissential 18-MEA Series

CUTISSENTIAL BEHENYL 18-MEA* and CUTISSENTIAL 18-MEA 40* are quaternized derivatives of 18-Methyl Eicosanoic Acid (18-MEA), the primary lipid of the hair surface. Human hair contains a thin, protective layer of lipids covalently bound to the cuticle and is comprised primarily of 18-MEA. Chemical treatment or environmental stress (e.g., exposure to sunlight), even everyday grooming, can remove part or all of these lipids, making hair unmanageable, less healthy-looking, and more susceptible to further damage. CUTISSENTIAL BEHENYL 18-MEA and CUTISSENTIAL 18-MEA 40 were developed as a means of replenishing this important lipid. CUTISSENTIAL BEHENYL 18-MEA is ideal for conditioning and treatment systems and CUTISSENTIAL 18-MEA 40 is readily incorporated into surfactant systems and can used where a liquid is preferred.
