BRIJ S2, BRIJ S20 and BRIJ S721
BRIJ S2, BRIJ S20 and BRIJ S721 are polyoxyethylene fatty ethers derived from stearyl alcohols designed to emulsify and produce stable dispersions of cosmetic materials. Due to their differing HLB values, BRIJ S2 and BRIJ S721 work well in combination with each other to produce stable oil-in-water emulsions. The presence of an ether linkage in their structure gives them exceptional stability and the absence of an ester linkage eliminates any tendency for them to hydrolyze. These properties enable them to exhibit tolerance to extreme levels of pH and to tolerate high levels of electrolyte. BRIJ S2 and BRIJ S721 are therefore particularly recommended for use in extreme pH formulations such as antiperspirant deodorants. To satisfy the needs of customers seeking sustainable palm alternatives, Croda offers SP BRIJ S2 MBAL, SP BRIJ S20 MBAL and SP BRIJ S721 MBAL which are all manufactured via RSPO’s Mass Balance system.
